The Museum of Natural History and Conservation of Aguadilla celebrates the International Day of Women and Girls in Science
On February 11, 2025, the Museum of Natural History and Conservation of Aguadilla celebrated the International Day of Women and Girls in Science in collaboration with the Association of Women in Physics (WIP) from the University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez Campus (UPRM).
Students from kindergarten to twelfth grade participated in the activity prepared by the collaboration of the Museum and Women in Physics, UPRM chapter.
Twenty-eight students from kindergarten through twelfth grade attended. The Association of Women in Physics conducted several science experiments for the students; these included an experiment on surface tension, which was taught to the students using giant bubbles, and a hovercraft which demonstrated Newton's Three Laws of Motion. In addition, the students created their own constellations.
The hovercraft experiment is used to explain to the students Newton’s Three Laws of Motion.
