Natural History Virtual Reality Experience

Developed by the DCG Computer Science Honor Society of the Dr. Carlos González public school in Aguada in collaboration with the Museo de Historia Natural y Conservación de Puerto Rico in Aguadilla.

Time Capsule is a short virtual reality experience that offers an introductory tour through the geological and biological history of Puerto Rico. The project was designed with the purpose of awakening the scientific curiosity of new generations and motivating them to explore more about the natural heritage safeguarded by the Museo de Historia Natural y Conservación de Puerto Rico.

The development of the program was carried out under the mentorship of Professor Yamitza Rosas and the student team: Marc Torres Ramírez (Game Developer & Student Project Leader), Christian González Pérez (3D Designer), Diego Rivera Rivera (3D Designer), Tanairi Prato Ruiz (2D Designer). The team was mentored by Dr. Jorge Vélez Juarbe, paleontologist and vice president of the MHNPR Board of Directors, to ensure a close representation of the Jurassic, Pleistocene and Postmodern eras of the historical and natural events of the archipelago.

The plan is to integrate this experience permanently as part of the museum’s interactive exhibitions, strengthening its educational and technological offering.
