The Museum makes history with its first scientific article in the field of paleoclimate
Dr. Pablo Llerando Román, Executive Director of the Museum of Natural History of Puerto Rico.
Congratulations to our Director, Dr. Pablo Llerandi Román, who was part of a research team that recently published an article on refining stalagmites to better understand aspects of paleoclimate.
The study, led by lead author Gabriel López Borobia along with Dr. Ny Riavo Voarintsoa, was published in the International Journal of Speleology. Their research, conducted in Cueva Ensueño in Puerto Rico, improves the accuracy of paleoclimate reconstructions by refining how stalagmites record variations in oxygen isotopes, providing valuable insight into how tropical cave systems preserve evidence of changes in precipitation and temperature over time.
